WESTWOOD – On Friday a call came into the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office about a man brandishing a shotgun in the 300 block of Elm Street.
The incident started when a man and woman went to the Elm Street property to make sure the property was secure and to pick up some items. Upon arriving, they found the padlock on the door had been cut. They called dispatch and alerted of them of their concern that they thought someone might be on the property.
Then 19-year-old Darin Best arrived, with a shotgun and allegedly brandished it at the reporting couple. Best proceeded to unlock a trailer on the property and two people came out.
Those individuals have been identified as 31-year-old Jay Schier and 49-year-old Daisy Midnight. Schier was holding a bat and threatened the reporting couple with it. The trio then left the property in two separate cars.
Deputies later spotted one of the vehicles at a home in the 500 block of Elm Street where they contacted, detained and later arrested the trio.
Deputies found 11 ounces of meth $1,700 in cash and evidence of drug sales.
Best and Midnight’s charges are assault with a firearm, felony conspiracy, brandishing and possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.
Schier’s charges are felony conspiracy, threats and brandishing a weapon other than a firearm.
