Task Force Arrests Man for Child Molestation and Child Pornography
MARTINEZ — A man in custody is accused of child molestation and distributing child pornography. Detectives arrested the suspect following an investigation conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
This multi-agency task force, managed by the San Jose Police Department, executed a search warrant last week. Inside the suspect’s Martinez residence, investigators located evidence that he sexually abused minors.
Agencies participating in this law enforcement action include the Martinez Police Department. Other participants in the task force include detectives from Concord, Moraga, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, and sheriff’s deputies.
Contra Costa County authorities identified Aaron K. Mikkelsen, 21 of Martinez, as the suspect. They suspect Mikkelsen of committing lewd acts with children younger than 13 years old.
Investigators also suspect Mikkelsen of producing child pornography, as well as selling and distributing child pornography online.
Authorities gathered evidence of child sexual abuse from Mikkelsen’s cell phone. In addition, they found a significant amount of evidence posted on various social media accounts linked to Mikkelsen. He allegedly used social media to sell child pornography.
Subsequently, the Contra County District Attorney’s Office charged Mikkelsen on October 25. He faces five felony charges involving sexual abuse of children.
Mikkelsen remains in custody at the county’s Martinez Detention Facility with a bond of $500,000.
