VISALIA – 43-year old Rodney McCurdy caused havoc in Visalia until he falsely reported his getaway vehicle stolen and got himself arrested.
Two nights in a row, October 17th and 18th, McCurdy was caught by a security camera outside an Auto Oil Changers breaking into the outside cash machines with a car. The costs to repair the damage will be extensive.
On October 29th, police officers encountered him in the Community Services Employment Training (CSET) yard. He fled on fled on foot, leaving his car behind.
Then police located him again on October 30th. McCurdy led police on a car chase before again abandoning his car and escaping on foot. He aided police in his own capture by reporting the car he has just abandoned stolen. Police were able to locate and arrest him because of this call.
Further investigation into his criminal activities revealed McCurdy had stolen a safe and miscellaneous items from a U-Haul store on East Mineral King Avenue. He was in possession of a trailer belonging to the County of Tulare.
