MANHATTAN BEACH – A social media robbery scheme was revealed during an investigation into an October 8th home invasion robbery. Three armed black male suspects brandishing handguns entered a home on the 400 block of 27th Street at approximately 2:37 AM.
First, the suspects tied up two victims, then they ransacked the residence and escaped in the victim’s vehicle. Manhattan Beach PD Officers were called, and responded to the scene immediately thereafter.
Investigating Detectives identified an anonymous female juvenile from Los Angeles as the primary suspect. A second suspect was positively ID’d as Jermaine Myles (21) of Los Angeles. He was previously arrested on April 5, 2017 for burglary and conspiracy.
Investigators revealed that the suspects had befriended the victims via Instagram.
As a result, the suspects were invited to the victims’ residence on the day of the crime, where mayhem ensued.
Investigating detectives determined that the female juvenile suspect orchestrated the robbery while the three armed male suspects carried it out.
On November 5th, a search warrant was served by the MBPD SWAT team, assisted by the Gardena PD SWAT team on the 5500 block of Langport Avenue in Long Beach. The anonymous female juvenile suspect and Myles were taken into custody.
Consequently, “The female juvenile suspect was charged with robbery, burglary, and conspiracy,” said MBPD. “Myles was charged with kidnapping, robbery, burglary and conspiracy. Detectives are currently attempting to identify the two additional outstanding armed robbery suspects. Detectives also recovered the victim’s stolen vehicle in the City of Los Angeles.”
