CRESCENT CITY – K9 Django and K9 Kai recently assisted their fellow officers in three arrests.
On September 9, Django did a narcotics sniff on a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop. The K9 helped uncover two firearms and meth. 37-year-old Michael Chiappone and 38-year-old Amanda Austin were arrested for felony gun and drug possession charges.
On October 3, K9 Kai also assisted in a traffic stop. This top occurred on Highway 101 near the KOA campground. Kai alerted fellow officers to the presence of drugs. The search produced a loaded handgun, meth, heroin, and a expandable baton.
35-year-old Robert Wayne Martinex was arrested for possessing controlled substances for sale and transportation of the same. He also faces weapons charges.
The Crescent City Police Department says, “The K9’s have done so much more recently, but there is just too many instances to post about.”
