RICHMOND — A 36 year old El Sobrante woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of committing multiple crimes. Her alleged crimes range from minor offenses like petty theft to more serious crimes.
Upon completion of a four-month investigation of several crimes beginning with fraud, Richmond detectives finally nailed a suspect. The woman arrested is believed to have evaded authorities for years. However, last month the law finally caught up with her. A Richmond detective specializing in property crimes uncovered enough evidence to arrest her on 18 separate charges.
The suspect arrested is a resident of El Sobrante, 36-year-old Michelle Haro. She remains in custody at the West County Detention Facility in lieu of $825,000 bond.
The evidence links Haro to a lengthy list of crimes—for someone arrested as a first-time offender. Among other things, the evidence links her to identity theft, credit card fraud, grand theft, and vehicle theft.
During the investigation, authorities learned the suspect committed several crimes using stolen identities. These crimes involving fraud resulted in the purchase of two vehicles. In addition, stolen IDs were used for renting apartments and storage units, and for obtaining credit.
When she was arrested, Haro was found in possession of stolen mail, credit cards, checks, and gift cards. As if that wasn’t enough, Haro had in her possession identification cards—not belonging to her.
Otherwise, her alleged criminal activities include burglarizing storage units along a wide swath stretching from San Pablo to Antioch.
Just to name a few—Haro faces charges for burglary, forgery, identity theft, vehicle theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
