More than six months have passed since the April 29th, at-gunpoint robbery of a San Bernardino grocer.
At that time, an unidentified suspect entered Grand Terrace Market wearing a fake beard and a wig, pointed a black handgun at the cashier and commanded the cashier to open the register.
Having handcuffed the supermarket employee, the suspect took the cash and made haste to the getaway car, a silver sedan.
Deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Central Station’s Grand Terrace patrol responded to the armed robbery.
Led by Detective Allen of the Central Station, the suspects were identified as Luis Nuño, 21, and Esmeralda Badajoz, 29, both of San Bernardino.
Nuño and Badajoz were taken into custody on November 8th, after detectives from the Sherrif’s Central Station served a search warrant at 551 West 7th Street, in the city of San Bernardino.
At that address, the detectives located evidence used in the April robbery. Nuño and Badajoz were both arrested for PC 211 Armed Robbery and booked into San Bernardino Central Detention Center.
Nuño reportedly has at least one previous encounter with the law, having been arrested in December 2016 on suspicion of a Highland, California, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. He had been found driving a black SUV and in possession of a semi-automatic pistol, both used in the robbery.
