WATSONVILLE – A suspect approached an anonymous teenage girl on several occasions, to the point of earning a charge concerning the annoyance of a child.
A 16-year-old girl reported to her school leaders in October than a man approached her on four different occasions and “made her feel uncomfortable.”
24-year-old Marcos Avalos “forced her to shake his hand once and complimented her beauty during every encounter.”
On November 14th detectives arrested Avalos, was then booking into the Santa Cruz County Jail. Avalos now faces charges of “annoying/molesting a child.”
The Watsonville Police Department adds, “Parents, please talk to your kids about the importance of reporting any suspicious people approaching them. This arrest was possible because the brave student spoke up.”
