VACAVILLE – On Friday November 9th the parking lot of Wal-Mart was the scene of an exciting pursuit and arrest.
A call came to officers concerning a shoplifter who ran out of Wal-Mart and attempted to flee in a green SUV.
An employee of the store captured the license plate identification of the SUV, which turned out to also be stolen. The suspect drove recklessly through the parking lot to the point where he lost control of the SUV, which flipped over and it landed on its roof.
27-year-old Andrew Bucoajit crawled out of the vehicle, saw what awaited him, and crawled back in, “barricading himself.”
Officers tried numerous approaches to get the suspect out – “repeated verbal commands and a flash bang device,” as well as “less-lethal options.”
Enter K-9 Russell. With Russell’s assistance, officers “were able to gain hold of Mr. Bucoajit and removed him from the vehicle.”
Bucoajit was on active California Department of Ccrrections Parole. His charges include reckless evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and a parole violation.
Kudos to the alert and helpful citizens and employees who assisted in this arrest.
