Photo: CHP uses spike strips to stop the getaway
ANGELS CAMP – The CVS on North Main Street was robbed in the early afternoon of November 15th.
Two Hispanic males “wearing hooded sweatshirts and baseball hats” were hanging around the store before jumping the pharmacy counter to grab various drugs.
The pair fled, but not before a witness phoned in the incident to pol;ice and provided a description of their getaway vehicle.
With that information, two deputies spotted the fleeing car and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The two suspects took off in their car, which was stolen out of Lodi.
The chase continued on Highway 49 and into San Andreas. This is where CHP took over the chase, “which is standard procedure.”
Officers eventually deployed spike strips and successfully stopped the suspects. One was arrested quickly , but the other fled into a vineyard and eluded capture.
30-year-old Ricardo Vasquez-Moreno was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and vehicle theft.
His partner in crime remains on the loose.
