MARYSVILLE – A man and his juvenile brother were arrested on Wednesday November 21st for battering an elderly veteran.
The early morning incident happened at WAP Towing Yard at 1523 B Street. Earlier that morning Yuba Sutter CHP had confiscated and stored a vehicle in the yard.
Then two men and two women came to the towing yard and wanted to get items out of the newly towed vehicle. One of the men “became hostile, shouting profanities and demanding” that the towing yard manager comply.
The 69-year-old manager did not comply, and tried to stop the suspect from getting access to the vehicle. That is when the suspect attacked the victim, who fought back.
The suspect’s 16-year-old brother joined in, with the duo inflicting “visible injuries” to the victim’s face. Before leaving, they threatened the victim and said they would be back to “take care of him with a firearm.”
Later, officers arrested 22-year-old Yuba City resident Charles Butler and his unnamed 16-year-old brother.
They face charges of attempted robbery, battery, elder abuse and criminal threats.
