CLEARLAKE – Back on June 26th an investigation began in regards to the alleged animal cruelty of 3 horses and 10 dogs.
Investigators arrived at a residence in the 14500 block of Burns Valley Road. They determined that the dogs, though in good health, did not have “appropriate access to food and water.”
However, the 3 horses, in addition to the same issue concerning food and water, “appeared to be in poor health.”
Authorities contacted Dawn Thompson on the property, who told them that 4 of the 10 dogs belonged to her daughter. The horses belonged to her, though.
Thompson was given 30 days to correct the situation with the animals. A follow-up visit determined that she failed to comply with the notice.
On July 5th officers took the 3 horses away to “a local boarder and provided with veterinary care.”
After “a several month long investigation,” Thompson was arrested for animal cruelty. Her bail was $15,000.
