POMONA – Yesterday, Pomona PD’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) / Investigative Services Division moved in to serve a search warrant on a non-complying marijuana dispensary location. Several months of illegal operations drew officials to 1338 South Garey Avenue.
Although use of marijuana is legal in the state of California, marijuana sales are not legal in Pomona city limits.
“City of Pomona Code Enforcement Inspectors contacted the owner of this marijuana dispensary numerous times regarding operating a marijuana dispensary without a proper license and permits.” SIU Corporal Thomas De La Vega added, “The owner of this business consistently refused to comply with the City’s request to cease all illegal activity.”
When all else failed, a search warrant was executed at the known unlicensed/criminal marijuana dispensary for the crime: 11360 H.S. – Sales of Marijuana. The victim: State of California.
On Dec. 5th at 10:30 AM, approximately 2,000 marijuana products, more than 37 pounds of marijuana, and nearly $13,000 in U.S. currency were seized.
Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, the dispensary owner remains anonymous.
