A string of robberies in eight Orange County cities is thought to have ended with the arrest of a Los Angeles man on December 11th, 2018.
That evening, the Irvine Police Department took Emanuel Demar Banks, aged 38, into custody as the suspect in an armed robbery that had occurred in the evening of Sunday, December 9th in Irvine.
What authorities deemed to be the final in this Orange County robbery spree took place when Banks, weapon concealed, entered a Chevron gas station at 5425 Alton Parkway in Irvine.
Making as if he were going to purchase an item at the cash register, he instead brandished his gun and demanded money from the station attendant. Taking about $100 in cash, he fled the scene.
The robberies had theretofore occurred in the Southern California cities of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Tustin, Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Westminster, on December 8 and 9, 2018.
Investigations led by Irvine Police Department detectives allowed for identification of Banks and the determination of his location – a Gardena hotel. There, the detectives arrested Banks and took him into custody without incident. Search of the suspect’s hotel room also provided evidence related to the December 8 and 9 robberies in Orange County.
