FOLSOM – A prowling burglar was arrested thanks to home video surveillance footage and alert residents. On December 12th the Folsom Police Department took a report about a vehicle burglary in the 1400 block of Strabane Way.
Three days later, the residents whose vehicle had been burglarized contacted the police after discovering footage on their home surveillance system that revealed an “unknown black male entering their back yard and checking the handle on the side garage door.”
It just so happened that earlier on that same day, December 15th, the FPD had encountered a suspect on the 500 block of Heiler Way pulling on car door handles.
The man ran but was quickly detained. He gave a false name to police at first. They later identified him as Peter Nnedum and charged him with prowling and providing a false name to a police officer.
The surveillance video from the Strabane Way home was of Nnedum as well, and he was charged with burglary for that crime. Investigators are also looking into “other burglaries in the region.”
The FPD “reminds us to be diligent about locking the doors to our residences and vehicles, and removing valuables from vehicles.”
