Ventura County – The street price of heroin in Ventura County can be expected to rise very soon.
This is a prediction based upon the December 20th arrests of three men suspected of involvement in what Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Sgt. Eduardo Malagon described to the media as “a heroin distribution organization” operating on both the wholesale and retail levels throughout the county.
The arrests of 33-year-old San Fernando resident Isidro Marquez Luna, 26-year-old Arleta resident Brigido Marquez Luna, and 46-year-old Sylmar resident Ismael Azpeitia came as the result of a multi-task force investigation into “a sophisticated heroin distribution network.”
That investigation was conducted by a law enforcement coalition comprised of members of the VCSD Special Investigations Unit, the Oxnard Police Department, the Ventura City Police Department, and the Port Hueneme Police Department.
From the outset of the investigation, all three men were subjects of surveillance indicating their involvement to “collectively transport and sell various quantities of heroin.”
On the 20th, law enforcement teams simultaneously contacted each of the suspects at their individual residences and presented them with active search warrants.
Those three searches lead to the discovery and seizure of “over two pounds of heroin” packaged and ready for sale and distribution, assorted “packaging and paraphernalia indicative of narcotic sales,” and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency believed to the be proceeds of ongoing illegal sales.
All three men were taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were booked on multiple narcotics related offenses on no bail holds.
