It was a season of taking instead of a season of giving, for a car of three California women. Their very early morning encounter with law enforcment on December 22nd, 2018, ended with all of them in jail. The women were pulled over for an enforcement stop by deputies from San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office in Paso Robles, California, and their vehicle was found to contain about $20,000 worth of items believed to have been stolen regionally.
The goods, mostly from national retailers with a presence in Southern California, included items such as toys, make-up and clothing from Victoria’s Secret, American Girl, Lids and more. Dashia Monet Lee, aged 29 and of Richmond, CA, and Mercedes Denise Cannonier and Latalia Annette Smith, both aged 34 and of San Francisco, had been driving northbound on Highway 101 at Wellsona Road in Paso Robles when asked to stop.
In addition to the suspicious items themselves, deputies also found burglary tools during their investigation of the car, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lee, Cannonier and Smith were all arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of possession of burglary tools and felony possession of stolen property. Further investigation revealed that Smith also had Santa Clara County warrants for grand theft and battery, and a Napa County warrant for theft.
