Ventura County – On the afternoon of January 10th, a 911 Emergency call to the City of Thousand Oaks Police Station reported a possible victim of drug overdose needing assistance at a nearby apartment complex.

At the same time, another report was called in describing what Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Detective Sgt. Eduardo Malagon described as “a disturbance involving an unknown subject discarding a duffel bag” in the carport of the same apartment complex.

Responding deputies made contact with 22-year-old Fullerton resident Matthew Douglas Robledo, who indicated that he was on the premises visiting a friend. Their conversation with Robledo led them to believe that while he was not suffering from an overdose, he was indeed under the influence of a controlled substance.

Robledo then led deputies to the unit of the friend he was visiting, and they made contact with the tenant, 20-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Travis Lee Trent.

A protracted interview was then conducted by deputies, who soon came to believe that the residence was being used to conduct “narcotics sales activity.”

At that point, the patrol officer summoned Narcotics Detectives to the scene. Not long after they arrived, they were joined by personnel from the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigations.

The duffel bag that was reported earlier was later found in the nearby carport. Inside were “two firearms and a large quantity of codeine syrup,” all determined to be the property of Trent and Robledo.

That discovery led to a complete search of Trent’s apartment and the discovery of “238 grams of concentrated cannabis, 1,484 grams of marijuana, 4.8 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and a large quantity of money,” all indicative of active illegal narcotics sales.

Trent and Robledo were taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were booked on multiple narcotics and firearms violations.
