On Wednesday, January 23rd, a boy under the age of five, while sitting in the back seat of a four-door sedan, accidentally shot his mother who was sitting in the driver’s seat after somehow accessing a shotgun located in the car.
Norwalk Station Deputies responded to the block of 14600 Dinard Street, where the shooting occurred, to find the Hispanic mother of four wounded in her midsection.
She was treated at a local hospital and is now in stable condition. The other passengers in the car, another adult female and the driver’s other three children were physically unharmed. The four children are now in custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.
A man, whose identity and connection to the woman is at this time not being released, was arrested that same day in regards to this case. He is charged with various felonies, including criminal storage of a firearm and child endangerment.
