What started as a presumably sweet gesture turned violent Thursday morning. Tulare County Deputies responded to a Goshen area home on January 31st after a woman reported her boyfriend, 33-year old Dorian Mendoza, had killed a 4-month old pet rabbit by throwing it into a wall.
The rabbit, aptly named “Bunny” was reportedly a gift to Mendoza and the woman’s 2-year old daughter some weeks prior. As Mendoza was moving his things out of the Goshen home, an argument about Bunny commenced and Mendoza took to ending the argument, and Bunny’s life, by chucking the rabbit against a wall.
In addition to the animal cruelty charge, Mendoza faces an unrelated charge for negligently discharging a firearm and cultivating marijuana. He was booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility. Bail is set at $40,000.
