TIPTON,CA – Words matter, and always have. However, these days, the words one speaks can lead to jail time.
A group of Tipton Elementary School students utilized the school’s anonymous “online bullying reporting system” to report a fellow 13-year old student on February 5th.
The student had reportedly threatened to bring an AR-15 to the school on February 6th. Further fueling the fears of the reporting students, was a Snapchat picture they had seen a month prior of the 13-year old boy holding an AR-15.
The 13 year old boy was arrested on the 5th and his mother is cooperating with deputies.
Although their home was searched, no weapons were found. The boy was transported to a juvenile detention facility and the case remains under investigation.
Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux took this opportunity to remind the community that any threats about bringing weapons to a school will not be treated as a joke but as they are, a serious criminal threat.
