HOLLISTER – HPD had a little excitement on February 18th at 10:22 pm when they went to a home in the 800 block of Central Avenue in response to a call of someone violating a restraining order.
27-year-old Randy Casarez Jr. was the one at the home in violation of the order. The suspect fled out of the back door when officers arrived and went to the house next door.
Tension mounted as police obtained permission to search the back yard of the house next door. They encountered 28-year-old Efren Villareal, who mentioned that he had a right to shoot the officers since they were on his property.
Casarez hid behind Villareal and wouldn’t show his hands upon command. It didn’t take long before Villareal was arrested without further incident. He had a “loaded high capacity gun magazine on his person.”
Casarez was arrested for disobeying a court order and resisting arrest. Villareal was arrested and charged with threatening officers, obstruction and being in possession of a high capacity magazine.
