Man arrested, extradited from Mexico for 2009 Murder

SANTA CRUZ – Nearly 10 years ago, on October 16, 2009, the SCPD responded to Chesnut and Laurel Street to investigate a stabbing outside of a 7-11 store.

Witnesses said that a verbal argument preceded the stabbing in which 16-year-old Tyler Tenorio died at the scene.

Although no suspects were arrested at the time, an investigation was ongoing over the years. With the FBI’s assistance, 32-year-old Ivan Ramirez Tapia was located in Durango City, Mexico and extradited to the US, where the American citizen was then booked on a no-bail warrant.
