FREMONT — Multiple calls from residents resulted in the arrest of three burglary suspects, and a precautionary school lockdown. One of the suspects is a 17-year-old juvenile.
The first resident phoned Fremont police at 10:20 a.m. on March 11th to report seeing a residential burglary in progress. The caller saw someone wearing a red hoodie climbing over a neighbor’s fence on Eggers Drive. The caller knew the neighbor wasn’t home, and saw a suspicious dark sedan parked in front of the residence.
As responding officers arrived on the scene, an Audi sedan began driving away slowly. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver sped away—leading to a brief police chase.
Ultimately, officers arrested two men who were inside the Audi. Allen C. Taylor, 29 of Oakland, and Robert Jackson, 24 of Stockton, were both transported to Santa Rita Jail.
In a prepared statement Fremont police Cpt. Fred Bobbitt said. “We are extremely appreciative of alert community members who assisted in the arrests of these prolific offenders.”
Presently, Taylor faces charges for first-degree residential burglary and receiving stolen property. Taylor previously served jail time for grand theft of personal property, and second-degree commercial burglary.
Jackson faces new charges for first-degree residential burglary and receiving stolen property. Jackson has numerous prior arrests for illegal firearms and kidnapping, among other offenses.
However, while both these men were being arrested, residents continued contacting Fremont police. One pulled up in a car to tell responding officers about a teenager acting suspiciously nearby.
More and more residents continued phoning the police. More officers were dispatched, and a wider search area was established. Meanwhile nearby John G. Mattos Elementary School was placed under precautionary lockdown.
Eventually, officers located a third suspect on a resident’s rooftop on Brophy Drive. This suspect is a 17-year-old juvenile male. He was arrested for residential burglary and taken to juvenile hall.
