About 12:30 AM on March 22nd, 44-year old Quentin Winn was pulled over by Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Burney Division deputies for a lighting violation.
It was quickly discovered that Winn’s license was suspended. As allowed by his active felony probation, his car was searched.
Deputies found a rifle and live rounds in the trunk. The suspect conceded knowledge of the rifle but denied knowing it was stolen in 2017 from a home in Burney.
Stolen or not, having been convicted of a felony, Winn is disallowed from being in possession of firearms and ammunition, and thus was arrested.
Winn then came clean about the methamphetamine in his boot. He was booked into Shasta County Jail and charged with possession of a firearm, felon in possession on ammunition, possession of stolen property, driving on a suspended license, and possession of methamphetamine.
He has since bonded out of jail.
