HOLLISTER – At 10:30 pm on February 27, two Hollister Police Department officers spotted a car near Sally and Hawkins Streets that didn’t make a proper stop, so they attempted to make a traffic stop.
The driver had other ideas. 27-year-old Johnny Ciccotti drove through residential streets and into downtown. Then the suspect jumped out of his vehicle as it was still moving and began running away.
His car hit a tree and stopped, and officers “formed a perimeter around the surrounding city block.”
K-9 Freeze joined the effort until officers discovered Ciccotti hiding in a parked car. And that was that.
A resident pointed out to officers a handgun in the street, where the chase had occurred. It was a stolen handgun from Alameda County. Ciccotti is on parole from Alameda County.
Ciccotti was charged with parole violation, evading, being a felon in possession of a handgun and ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm in public and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
