Officers Nab Serial Cell Phone, Purse-Thief Robbers in their Trusty Silver Chevy Cruze

CHINO HILLS – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Chino Hills Police rounded up an adult and two teens on April Fools’ Day who repeatedly stole cell phones and purses from victims.
Alton Thompson (19), of Victorville and 2 other juvenile suspects identified only as 16 and 17-year old black males, were arrested at Yogurtland for PC 211 Robbery, PC 487(c) Theft from a Person and PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy.
First, a black male suspect was reported on 3/27/19 at 12:45 PM for snatching the phone out of a victim’s hand near 13920 University Center Drive. The suspect sped away in a Silver Chevy Cruze, license plate 8FOA547.
Fifteen minutes later, a drive-by phone snatch occurred. A suspect reached out of the silver four-door sedan to grab the phone out of the hands of a male standing outside 24 Hour Fitness at 4200 Chino Hills Drive.
While Deputies and Detectives began investigating the crimes and generated leads, another call came in: “On Saturday, March 30, 2019 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a black male suspect stole a purse which was sitting on a bench next to the victim outside the Yogurtland, at 4505 Chino Hills Parkway and fled the scene in the Chevy Cruze.”
Finally, April 1, 2019, at 3:21 p.m., deputies immediately responded to 4505 Chino Hills Parkway to investigate a purse theft. A black male stole the victim’s purse which was sitting next to her, got into a Chevy Cruze and fled the scene.
An area check helped Deputies locate the now notorious Chevy Cruze at 15421 Fairfield Ranch Road in Chino Hills. The three suspects in their getaway car were found to be responsible for the above crimes and were arrested. The suspects are charged with Robbery, Theft from a Person and Conspiracy.
