A Lindsay home in the 600 block of East Citrus Avenue has been the target of several recent burglaries.
This lead the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Ag Unit to bait the burglars by placing a GPS equipped generator on the property.
The generator was also sprinkled with Smartwater, a clear liquid which can be applied to property and is only visible under an ultraviolet black light (smartwartercsi.com).
Deputies were alerted on April 7th, 1:50 AM, that the generator was on the move. It was tracked to a Porterville home oin the 1900 block of West Pioneer Avenue. When deputies arrived, they found the generator in the front seat of a parked car.
Three people were found with Smartwater on their hands, which transferred to their skin after touching the generator: 23-year old Danielle Potter, 33-year old Alyssa Smith, and 33-year old Daniel Trucker. All three Porterville residents were arrested.
As of April 9th, Potter and Smith remain at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility, both charged with grand theft, custodial institutional burglary, and conspiracy to commit a crime. They each have bail set at $35,000.
