FONTANA – The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation when a series of violent armed robberies began in early February. Victims were targeted in the counties of San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside.
First, communities in San Antonio Heights, Rancho Cucamonga, and the county area of North Rialto were hit. Later, the cities of Claremont, Mission Viejo, Riverside and Walnut were also plundered.
The crime spree began on February 10th when two pizza deliverymen were robbed by multiple suspects in a white late model Audi. Soon after, an elderly female was followed home, held at gunpoint in her garage,then robbed using force.
The same suspects robbed another female victim at gunpoint two days later, while she was in her garage after she exited her vehicle.
“Investigators from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station, Criminal Investigation Division, aggressively investigated these violent crimes,” said Detective Eric Lugo. “As a result of this investigation, they were able to identify the suspect vehicle, which was an Audi A3 stolen in Beverly Hills. Using advanced investigative techniques, including social media searches, investigators identified the suspects involved in these armed robberies.”
In recent weeks, investigators verified the location of the suspects and executed several search and arrest warrants at their Pomona residences. Multiple stolen items, indicative of these offenses, were recovered.
This week, three young men were arrested for multiple home invasions, armed robberies & burglaries – PC 211-Armed Robbery, PC 212.5-Home Invasion Robbery, PC 459-Residential:
K’aron Knight (20);
Ricky Gonzalez (18);
a 16-year-old male, an anonymous minor.
“Knight, who is currently on probation for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, is currently being held in a Los Angeles County jail awaiting transfer to San Bernardino County. Gonzalez was arrested for multiple counts of Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and has since posted bail, ” said Det. Lugo. “The juvenile in this matter is being held without bail in San Bernardino Juvenile Hall. All suspects have impending cases in the counties of Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles.”
