MT SHASTA – Last month, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office received information about a local resident who was “in possession of firearms he was not entitled to own or possess.” The suspect’s wife was also allegedly involved in unlawful firearms purchases.
A group of agents converged on the suspect’s home and served a search warrant on March 19th. The group included “CA DOJ special agents, SUMIT investigators, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies, officials from the Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office, and officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).”
Agents confiscated gang-related clothing, as well as 36 firearms. The cache included 12 suspected unregistered assault rifles. Also, they confiscated 100 high capacity magazines, “numerous firearm component parts, and over 10,000 rounds of ammunition.”
The couple were not present when law enforcement arrived at the home. However, law enforcement officials have indicated that they believe the couple will be taken into custody “in the next few days” and will release their names at that time.
“The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Supervising Special Agent Ryan Maki at (530) 842-8374.”
