A Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol near Whitesbridge Road and Napa Avenue in Kerman the night of 04/19/2019 when he observed a black Chevy Tahoe driving in a manner indicative of an impaired driver.
He signaled the swerving SUV to pull over and made contact with the 40-year old driver, Cesar Alberto Perez Mejia. It was clear to the deputy that Mejia was not sober.
A California Highway Patrol Officer responded to the scene to administer a field sobriety test upon Mejia, which he failed. Mejia was arrested for driving under the influence.
However, Mejia was about to be in even more trouble. When police search his vehicle, they found prepared baggies of cocaine and meth for sale, a scale, and a large sum of cash.
The Firebaugh resident was booked into Fresno County Jail on 04/20/2019 charged with the DUI and a felony charge for possession of drugs for sale. He posted bond on his $31,000 bail on 04/21/2019.
