SACRAMENTO – On November 29th 2018, two male victims were shot in 7100 block of Flanders Way in North Sacramento. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, however one victim, since identified as 86-year-old John Barton, did not survive.
Although initially there were no clear suspects and no known motive for the shooting, officers continued to investigate. During the ongoing investigation, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department was able to identify two suspects.
27-year-old Cochese Stevens of Oakland has been identified as one of the suspects and was placed under arrest on December 4th of 2018.
23-year-old Khalil Sabree of Elk Grove was identified as the additional suspect, and was arrested for the murder charges on April 15th of 2019. He was already in custody on other charges at the time of the murder arrest.
Both suspects are ineligible for bail because of their charges and remain in custody at the Sacramento County Mail Jail.
