Photo: too many trout
ANTELOPE LAKE – On Sunday April 28th, an angler got a little too greedy with his catch. A concerned fisherman reported that the suspect quite evidently kept more than the legal limit of five trout.
Aided with a description of the suspect’s truck and a partial id of the license plate, officers spotted such a vehicle “leaving the area at a high rate of speed.”
After driving a mile and a half with his lights on, the officer was finally able to pull the unnamed suspect over. When the officer made contact with the suspect, the suspect claimed heonly had five trout in his truck, however a search of his vehicle showed otherwise. In fact the man had 54 trout in his truck. He was cited for gross overlimit of trout.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife notes, “The case would not have been possible without a tip from an honest angler. If you witness a poaching or polluting incident or any fish and wildlife violation, or have information about such a violation, immediately dial the toll free CalTIP number 1 888 334-CALTIP (888 334-2258), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
