WALNUT CREEK — Three men landed in jail and several victims inside emergency rooms following a road rage incident last weekend. It escalated from road rage to a fight between two groups of men off North Main Street.

Officers responded to a call on May 4th at 2:04 a.m. Someone reported seeing several men engaged in violent street combat.

Investigating officers determined that the fight began after two groups of men engaged in a prior road rage incident. Evidently, the drivers pulled off the road, men jumped out of cars, and they commenced fighting on a public street.

Police didn’t take long to start connecting the dots. Soon thereafter, reports began pouring into police headquarters from local hospitals. Stabbing victims were showing up in emergency rooms, and another person was apparently intentionally hit by a car.

It seems the stabbings occurred during the reported street fight. All the injuries sustained were moderate to serious, but not life-threatening.

Evidenced gathered at the scene by responding officers led to the arrests of three Contra Costa County residents.

Two 21-year-old men were arrested in connection with the stabbings. These suspects are identified as Joshua Beall and Phillip Chun. Each man was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

A third suspect, Christopher Delmonte, 28, was also arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Delmonte is accused of deliberately hitting another man with his vehicle.

This investigation remains open. Anyone with information can contact Detective Greg Leonard at 925-256-3523 or email leonard@walnutcreekpd.com
