SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects wanted in the shooting death of a known transient who has been identified as 49-year-old Mark Edward Jones.

According to SJPD Officer Gina Tepoorten, “On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at about 1:00 AM, San Jose police officers responded to a ‘person down’ call on East Virginia Street at South 3rd Street in San Jose.”  It was here that emergency service personnel discovered Jones face down on the sidewalk where he had been gunned downed just moments before their arrival.

Tepoorten said, “The investigation revealed the suspects got in a brief altercation with the victim, who was subsequently shot by one of the suspects.” Jones was found unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Video surveillance was provided to show the suspects prior to their attack on the homeless victim.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srHEHHhvcJM

A description of the suspects indicates that the suspects are being identified as being White or Hispanic, with a medium to heavy build. Both suspects appeared to know each other and appeared to have been looking for a fight.
