SAN JOSE – The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has announced the arrest of eight individuals after an unusually high instance of gun violence in the San Jose Seven Tree’s neighborhood.
District Attorney Jeff Rosen said, “The successful effort was a direct and collaborative response to a neighborhood at risk.” Operation “Redwood” began back in April of 2019 when a number of shootings were increasingly being reported near Seven Trees community center, park, and neighborhood.
Eight suspects were apprehended through a collaboration between the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI, the San Jose Police Department, the County Sheriff’s Office, the Probation Department and the state Department of Parole.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, joint efforts with local agencies found and dismantled a fully operational butane honey oil lab. A search of second suspect’s drug operation also netted $42,000 in cash, a kilogram of cocaine, heroin, eight pistols, and an assault rifle.
Suspect Julian Gonzalez was arrested for possession of cocaine for sale, possessing a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm.
Orlando Arias was arrested for four counts of being a felon possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cocaine for sale, possession of heroin for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, along with additional gang enhancement charges.
Jose Ramirez was arrested after numerous tips by the public identified Ramirez as the suspect responsible for the Dec 15, 2018 shooting death of 34-year-old Nathan Johnson-Harper outside a liquor store on the 1500 block of Almaden Expressway.
Juvenal Arellano was arrested after police located a firearm in his possession during a search conducted by authorities.
Richard Herrera and Michael Nieto were arrested for a parole violation, while Felipe Munoz was arrested for a probation violation, while Shakwon Williams was arrested during Operation “Redwood” for possession of a machine gun, with 2-counts of carrying a loaded firearm.
