WILLITS – During the night of May 8th, the Willits Police Department sent officers to a hospital to interview an assault victim.
The evening before, a man she had been dating and his friend, 35-year-old Aaron McIvor, were at a residence in the Brooktrails subdivision.
The trio had been drinking as they sat in a vehicle nearby when her boyfriend, 36-year-old Silas Young, became angry at her and pushed her out of the car. He then began to choke her.
The victim’s screams apparently caused the attack to subside and the three returned to a residence on Oriole Drive. Police arrived in response to a call of residents hearing a woman’s screams.
Police interviewed the victim, who said everything was okay. Later it came to light that she was afraid of her two attackers and a possibility of further assault.
That possibility became a reality when officer left. The two males “took turns spitting on, punching and kicking” the victim. McIvor also burned her hands with a lit cigarette.
The victim escaped, with torn clothes and visible wounds to her face and eyes, and drove herself to the hospital.
Young faces charges for felony domestic battery and his bail was set at $25,000. McIvor was faces charges for false imprisonment, assault and battery and probation violation. His bail is set at $70,000.
