On May 24, 2019, around mid-morning, a car cruising in the area of Dustin Acres in Kern County arose suspicion from a concerned citizen who thought that the occupant of the vehicle may be casing homes for burglary.
The citizen phoned the Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle. Taft Substation Deputies who were already in the area located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.
Deputies arrested the driver, Victor Alsept, after they searched his vehicle and found a stolen handgun, ammunition, high capacity magazine, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia indicating intent to sale.
Alsept incurred further charges when a search warrant served at his home turned up a large quantity of methamphetamine and property stolen during a residential burglary, which had occurred one week prior to Alsept’s arrest.
In all, he faces 11 felonies and 4 misdemeanors. He remains in custody at the Kern County Jail with bail set at $227,500. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 31.
