SACRAMENTO — On February 10, 2019, Steven Schmidt was found having been beaten. At first, it was suspected that he was the victim of a hit-and-run.
However, it later was determined that he was beaten and robbed. Despite hospitalization, he died on March 4.
Subsequent investigation revealed that three people had been involved in the crime: Etuate Faiva, Manuel Hook, and Antoinette Jiminez.
On May 23, Jiminez was arrested for her part in the crime. As it turned out, the other two were already in the Contra Costa County Jail on unrelated charges.
Hook and Jiminez are charged with robbery. Faiva is charged with murder.
