MILPITAS – The Milpitas Police Department has made an arrest of a male suspect wanted for residential burglary. According to police Lieutenant Steven Fox, “On Saturday, June 1, 2019, at approximately 12:32 P.M., a resident on the 1300 block of Lassen Avenue called the Milpitas Police Department to report a burglary.”
The case was ongoing pending further investigation. Forensic evidence was collected in hopes of identifying the suspect. Then on June 2, 2019 a woman at a residence near the 1400 block of Lassen Avenue called the Milpitas Police Department to report a man in the backyard of her residence. The man reportedly knocked on the front door, and she believed he was trying to gain entry into the residence.
However when police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene. Milpitas Detectives were provided video surveillance footage that helped ID the suspect.
Officers put in place a routine patrol of the area when one officer recognized the suspect from the video footage near 1400 block of Lassen Avenue. The suspect, Emmett Tahiry, a 23-year-old Milpitas resident, was identified and booked into the Santa Clara County jail for burglary, prowling, possession of the stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, providing a false name, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation violation.
Tahiry is currently on probation from Alameda County for a prior burglary and probation from Santa Cruz County for hit and run.
