On April 2nd of 2019, Carlos Alfonso Bolanos picked up a juvenile in Madera and drove her in a dark colored Astro Van to a rural area of the county.
The young, female juvenile was expecting to sell fruit at a corner stand, instead she was sexually assaulted. Bolanos told her he had a gun and would kill her and her family if she did not undress.
The victim later reported she did not see a gun, but did notice a machete on the floor of the vehicle. Bolanos is accused of assaulting the victim in three different locations in Madera County.
The victim reported the assault to officers and described her assailant as a large, Hispanic male in his 20’s with no facial hair and a shaved head. At the time of the attack, he was wearing khaki pants, black boots, and a red shirt with small blue print on the right side.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office publicized a “Be on the Lookout” for the van which lead to several credible leads and their eventual interest in 22-year Bolanos. He was picked up on June 4th by MCSO detectives on unrelated probation warrants.
During his interview with detectives, Bolanos admitted responsibility for the April assault. He confessed to having used a fake Facebook profile, “Maritza Martinez” displaying a female photo, to contact and maintain communication with the victim.
Bolanos is charged with multiple felonies of rape of a victim under 18 years of age, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years, kidnapping for the purpose of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years, and criminal threats. Bolanos was booked into Madera County Jail where he remains as of June 12th.
