EL DORADO – Nine jurisdictions in four counties have reported commercial burglaries recently and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating.
In the burglaries, two or three people dressed in concealing clothing and gloves and “targeted gas stations between midnight and 5 AM.” The main target of the thefts were “large volumes of cigarette cartons.”
The EDCSO totals 4 burglaries, 1 robbery and 1 attempted burglary.
The police departments of Sacramento, Galt, Auburn, Rocklin and the sheriff’s departments of Placer and Sacramento were also part of the task force assembled to stop this thieving team.
On May 26th two men made off with $6,000 in cigarettes from the Wine Country station in Camino.
The owner of the Snowline Station saw his surveillance video and gave the task force a description of the vehicle.
It wasn’t long before the vehicle was spotted on Highway 50. Deputies pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the three men inside.
Miguel Chamizo, Kevin Gilkey and a 16-year-old were interviewed and then arrested.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced that they have “arrested more suspects related to these crimes.”
