LEE SUMMIT – The California Highway Patrol in Quincy received a call on June 18 about a deceased female.
Officers went to Lee Summit and indeed discovered a body in the woods. The female was reported as a missing person from Nevada County, later identified as 52-year-old Etta Elmore of Penn Valley.
The investigation into Elmore’s death led to an interview with her mother, 67-year-old Michelle Powers.
In the interview, it came out that Powers had assisted her daughter in committing suicide with prescription medication. Elmore had “made previous suicidal threats.”
Powell was “arrested for assisting in her daughter’s death.” Her bail was set at $250,000.
