CLAREMONT – Police Officers responding to a commercial burglary at the Claremont Pharmacy arrived just in the nick of time to encounter three hooded, masked commercial-burglary suspects fleeing in a vehicle. Police pursuit commenced immediately from the pharmacy located at 358 S. Indian Hill Blvd. at 11:09 AM on July 6th.
As the short pursuit ended at the westbound 10 Freeway on ramp at Vinton Avenue, Pomona, the suspects leapt out of the vehicle and ran.
“The three were captured a short distance away,” said Council Member Ed Reece. “A loaded 9mm handgun, which was reported stolen in a residential burglary in the City of Gardena, was also recovered at the scene, along with the property stolen from the pharmacy.”
“The investigation later revealed that an armed robbery had occurred at the business,” said the former Police Commissioner. The three suspects were seen running into the pharmacy, wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks.
Arrested were Dominique Dewann Thompson (30), Curtis Wayne Houston (34), and Eugene Darryl Halcromb (30) – all from Compton. All three were booked for armed robbery, kidnapping, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
Additionally, Houston had “vehicle pursuit” added to his list of offenses.
Anyone who has information about these crimes in both Claremont and Gardena is urged to contact the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
