MODESTO – During the night of July 12th a woman and her child were taken to the hospital and treated for injuries they received at the hands of a male suspect.
Officers discovered the mother and son in an alley near Scenic Road and Boden Street. They were responding after receiving a call from a concerned citizen about the woman and boy, both of whom appeared to be injured to the caller. Officers discovered that the 43-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy had both been assaulted. They are both expected to survive their injuries.
Officers then discovered that the suspect, 43-year-old Rene Franco, was in a residence on Boden Street. They next surrounded the house and contacted Franco inside.
It took them an hour to finally take the suspect into custody, at which time he was arrested for attempted homicide.
