SUTTER CREEK – A gasoline theft was reported on July 12 at 6:15 a.m. An officer from the Sutter Creek Police Department went to the commercial location where the theft occurred.
A witness spotted the suspect as he fled in a multi-colored camper van. The van also had things strapped onto the roof (surely making it easy to recognize).
Sure enough, twenty minutes later, the officer spotted the van and stopped it. It turns out the van was also stolen from Jackson three days before the theft of gasoline.
33-year-old Stockton transient Theodore Erkson was “arrested and booked for charges related to vehicle theft, vandalism and a weapons related offense.”
The Sutter Creek PD reminds us that “Mr. Erkson, like others arrested for crimes, is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.”
