MCKINLEYVILLE – On July 15th a 36-year-old female arranged a ride with two people so that she could run errands in Arcata.
Once the errands were done, as they headed back to McKinleyville, 36-year-old Travis Robert Mann and 34-year-old Sherry Jo Bennett stopped the vehicle near Babble Road and Grace Avenue.
Mann produced a gun and removed the victim from the vehicle, while keeping her purse, and the duo then drove away, leaving the victim behind.
Further investigation located the vehicle in the Windsong Village area. It turns out that the vehicle had previously been reported as stolen.
Deputies then went to a residence in the 2100 block of Tina Court and encountered Mann and Bennett. In their search of the residence deputies discovered the firearm associated with the robbery. Like the vehicle, it too was stolen.
The search was allowed because the residence “was known to be the primary residence of a subject on felony formal probation with a search clause.”
The victim’s stolen property was located, as well as the keys to the stolen car.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department concluded, “Mann was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of robbery, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property and false identification to a peace officer. Bennett was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property.”
