SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) has arrested a suspect for trying to solicit sex with a minor.
The suspect had tried to solicit sex with a 12-year-old male. The mother of the victim contacted the San Jose Police Department and detectives quickly took over the texting conversation, setting a trap for the would-be predator.
After multiple texts, the suspect, 26-year-old Roman Guillen, attempted to meet with the child for sex (or so he thought).
“On July 29, 2019, Guillen agreed to meet at an undisclosed location in the City of San Jose,” according to San Jose Police Sergeant Enrique Garcia. “At approximately 3:00 PM, Guillen arrived at the prearranged location and was taken into custody.” Detectives also served a search warrant at the suspects home and cellphone applications finding child pornography.
Guillen was booked on charges including arranging to meet a minor for lewd purposes (felony) 288.4(a)(1) PC, meeting with a minor to commit a lewd act (felony) 288.4(b) PC, sending harmful matter to a minor (felony) 288.2(a)(2) PC, and possession of child pornography (felony) 311.11(a) PC.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or any other similar incidents are urged to contact Detective Michael O’Grady of the San Jose Police Department’s ICAC/CED Unit at 408-537-1381.
