PASO ROBLES – During the months of June and July of 2019, 31-year old Robert McDaniel took several prescriptions to be filled at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Creston Road in Paso Robles.
The pharmacist noticed a pattern: the prescriptions were for pain pills, prescribed by the same dentist to different patients, but always picked up by Robert McDaniel.
On July 29th, the pharmacist called the dentist office to confirm the prescriptions with the dentist. The receptionist cited an excuse as to why the dentist was not available to come to the phone.
The pharmacist said she would not fill any more prescriptions until they were verified by the dentist. She also reported the suspicious activity to the Paso Robles Police Department.
Officers visited the dentist’s office where they discovered an employee, 29-year old Anacristina McDaniel, who turned out to be the wife of the man picking up the prescriptions.
Anacristina had been writing fraudulent prescriptions on pads she stole from her work and having them filled at different pharmacies in Paso Robles and Atascadero.
The McDaniels were both arrested for the charges of forgery of a fraudulent prescription, possession of narcotics, conspiracy to commit a crime, and burglary. Robert was also on probation and was thus faces a probation violation as well. The husband and wife were booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
