A 28-year-old man confessed to stabbing his 62-year-old mother to death in the condominium they shared in Garden Grove.
On August 6th, 2019, at 9:43 PM, Garden Grove police officers responded to a condominium in the 14000 block of Flower Street in Garden Grove. There, they found a deceased woman in a bedroom.
The victim was a Korean woman named Vivian Wolff. According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, her body had been left under a comforter. It was originally discovered by friends who came to check on her because she had not responded to their phone messages. Police identified the case as a homicide.
Police named Wolff’s son, Jonathan Michael Warner, as a person of interest in the case and released a photo and report of Warner to the public.
Two days later, at about 1:45 PM, a witness who had seen the news report contacted police about seeing Warner walking near the intersection of Ninth Street and College Avenue in Garden Grove. Police located Warner and attempted to speak with him, but Warner reportedly assaulted one of the officers and tried to run away. Officers chased him down and successfully detained him.
Warner was transported to the police department for interview, where he confessed to the murder of his mother. He was subsequently booked at Orange County Jail.
